Korean American Street Photographer in Seoul

Argus Paul Estabrook is a Korean American photographer based in the greater Seoul metropolitan area. His work merges documentary practice with a fine art sensibility, drawing heavily from street photography to explore cultural narratives embedded in everyday Korean life. Central to his approach is the philosophy of the “Half Eye,” a personal concept describing a divided gaze, one half directed outward toward the collective social landscape, the other turned inward toward memory, identity, and lived experience as a Korean-born Gyopo. This dual perspective shapes his visual language and informs his understanding of reality. Ultimately, his photography functions as a poetic search for meaning, transforming the viewfinder into a window that is both open and reflective, inviting viewers to find wonder within the harmony and chaos of our shared, transitory existence.
